Our community garden relies on the generosity and dedication of volunteers. VT students, scouts, master gardeners and naturalists, are just a few of the groups that work with us, and individuals are always welcome too! There are many different ways to help.

At our regular weekly workday we usually take care of common areas at our gardens, including mulching, pruning, weeding, and maintaining fences and other infrastructure, but we occasionally help gardeners or work on special projects.

Our current workday is Wednesdays from 9-11. If you or your group is interested in working at the Native Plant Propagation Center, contact the garden coordinator.

Do you want to help at the Hale Garden but like working independently? Our garden is full of special places that need stewardship, especially during the summer when our student help is gone. Benefits include being part of a wonderful community of people and often free fruits, veggies, and herbs. See postings below:

WANTED: Adopt-A-Bed/Weed-Hunter. Do you like weeding, or find satisfaction in a freshly cleared flower bed? We have some beautiful common areas at the Hale Garden full of edible and ornamental plants that need your help! Weed when you want, for how long you want!

We use signup.com to coordinate volunteers, and everyone needs to sign up and agree to our waiver to volunteer. Whether you are an individual or a member of a group that already volunteers you can click on the button below to sign up for the current volunteer days available. If you are interested in one of the independent positions listed above, or if you belong to a group looking for a place to lend a hand, send an email to gardens@liveworkeatgrow.org and we can meet you out at the garden.
