The transformation of the old Price’s Fork Elementary School into a mixture of senior housing, food and a brewery continues.
The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors voted 7-0 this week to give final approval of a $1.2 million Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development grant that will go to Prices Fork Village I LLC.
Prices Fork Village is leading a redevelopment that will convert former classrooms to 16 two-bedroom apartments for adults age 55 years and up and turn the rest of the old school into space for a brewery, farm-to-table restaurant and commercial kitchen and incubator to serve local growers and entrepreneurs in the food business.
The project will eventually expand to make room for another 16 apartments, but the property owner, Radford-based developer Joe Fortier, said the specifics of that phase of the project are still being decided.
