Community Garden Siting Guide

This guide tells the story of how we have approached developing locations for new community gardens over the past five years. It is also a resource that could be helpful for community organizers, non-profits or neighborhood groups looking to establish their own gardens.

Within this guide (click on the photo at left to view the entire document) is a helpful list of important factors to consider when evaluating potential garden locations.

Please feel free to download and share this guide, we hope you can learn from our garden experiences!

Edges of Appalachia Zine

This zine documents a year of seasonal foraging events hosted at our gardens and kitchen. The events focused on educating attendees about sustainable land use and the history, identification, processing, and use of Appalachian plants.

This project was generously supported by Mid Atlantic Arts. Click the image at left to view the guide, we also have hard copies available for a donation. Email gardens@liveworkeatgrow.org for more information.
