After many months of outfitting their custom food trailer, Cortney Flores and Carolyn Noble launched their shaved ice truck business, called Spoons, in June 2021. Residents of the NRV, and sisters, Cortney and Carolyn had the dream of sharing sweet treats with their friends and neighbors.
Since the initial launch from Millstone, the Spoons truck has been parked all over town at businesses such as Advanced Auto Parts, Kibbles on Main, Moon Hollow Brewing, Virginia Tech, Northstar Church, Dance Tech, Shawnee Pool and various apartment complexes. The Spoons team certainly made the most of their weekends and grew to establish a dedicated following of ice lovers of all ages.
“We are so thankful that we were able to be a part of Millstone Kitchen in our first season of our food truck business,” said Cortney, “Spoons benefited from being able to access the kitchen at any time. The walk in, sub-zero freezer was a life saver to store our ice for shaving. Millstone Kitchen is a gem in the NRV!”
Their unique ice creations featured seasonal flavors such as: peaches and cream, frozen strawberry lemonade and watermelon wipeout. The Spoons truck will be hibernating through the winter, but be sure to stay tuned for their return next spring!
